So I just started talking to this girl who's 10 years younger than me. I'm early 30's, she's early 20's. We've had teasing, playful conversations so far. She called me an old man once during an IM convo which I didnt acknowledge.

I'm coming from the frame that I don't usually date younger girls because they're too immature, but that I could possibly give her a chance if she fit my criteria. Is this a good idea? I'm wondering how you guys have dealt with this type of thing before and what advice you have for this situation. Anything you can add would be appreciated.

The main question you have to ask yourself is - is this girl on the same level as you intellectually and emotionally? Do you want the same things out of life at the moment as each other? If you have answered yes to both of the above questions, go for it and see where it leads. If it doesn't work out, you tried but if you don't try, you will never know what could have been.

Thanks for the response. Reading back over my post, I'm not sure I worded my question as well as I could have. Let me try differently:

I'm definitely interested in pursuing this girl. I know that the issue of our age difference is going to come up at some point, and I want to know what the best way to handle it will be. She's already kinda hinted at it by calling me an old man. It's just playful teasing and I wouldn't say she's shit testing me or anything, but there is a legit question about her being so much younger than me.

The way I currently plan on handling it is by saying that normally I don't date girls significantly younger than me, but that I would consider it if the girl was cool/mature enough.

I would like to know whether or not this is a good idea and I'd like to hear people's experiences in this area.
