So I met this girl a few months ago from a school club. We got to become friends after hanging out for a week, but I haven't really talked to her for 2 months.
Last week I bumped into her and spontaneously asked her to dinner on Friday night. I called her up 2 hours before our date and asked if she was still down and where she wanted to eat. Now this part didn't really make sense to me but she said if it would be okay for her to invite another guy too, a mutual friend that I also kind of knew.
I was thinking wtf? but instead just told her "sure, that sounds fun."
Now we were supposed to all meet at the restaurant at 8, but knowing another guy was coming, I asked if she wanted to hang out a bit before dinner. She said that sounded great and that we could "walk to the place together".
So we met up 30minutes before dinner, and just kicked it in her apartment. Conversation was extremely lively and playful. We really connected and I thought the night was going well.
When we got the the restaurant, apparently the guy also brought company.. 2 girls and 3 guys. Now we are a table of 8 and I got kinda

since I thought it would be a 'date'.
Right when we got seated, I felt an immediate loss of connection between the HB and I. The guy wasn't even cockblocking.. She was just MUCH closer of a friend to the guy and they often would talk about inside jokes. Every now and then we would still hit off conversations but the rest of the night pretty much went 30% me talking to HB and 70% her talking to the other guy.
Now this girl is quite the flirty type. During the dinner she would hint and suggest that the "three" of us should go out more often and hit up clubs and other venues.
I'm not sure how to handle this situation as I feel I am the third wheel. It is evident that she is much closer to the other guy.. Should I still ask her out to events?
What do you guys make of this?
