Hey ppl, I am in NO way fat, but I have a bit of a belly which is annoying. The rest of me is great. I've never seriously tried to get rid of it, but I am motivated. What do I need to do to get quick results???

Thanks Felandro, some good advice there. I didn't think cardio was good for losing stomach fat, but i'll start swimming and running everyday.

Green tea This tea is amazing it helps you to burn your calories that you intake up to 50% faster which means that you put on less fat and when you exercise you thus burn more fat. All in all its an amazing drink with lots of health benefits ( why i drink it 3 times a day)

Exercise When exercising you want to be doing something that is low intensity but for a prolonged period of time ( after an hour of low intensity work out whilst breath aerobically you start to turn fat into energy , thus burning fat)

however if you increase intensity it will have no effect because instead of breathing aerobically you begin to breath aerobically which is a different system of breathing which does not burn fat

My suggestions is to start off powerwalking on a treadmill turn this into a slow jog after a while and try and continue this for atleast an hour. to reach the maxuim effect do this until an hour - hour and a half but no more .

cardio is what thins you out.

But you really want to shed it, you've gotta do a LOT of cardio.

My friend lost 120 pounds in 8 months.. just cardio..

The rule is. Cardio Thins, and exercises (like crunches/sit ups/lower abs) tone.

He ran about 2-3 miles per day, and swam laps every day. as well as some toning exercises.

my ex-girlfriend was a nike team national cross country team runner, and she had the expertise in the area and cardio and running. it really does work though.

Just reduce your food by 50%, it's simple basic law of thermodynamics. Don't eat more than you can burn. I carry an abs since 19 year's old, I never overeat, I am skinny, usually eat around half of an amount I'd really like to eat.

Of course it may sound silly, but it is true before any excercises and all that stuff. Don't worry, you won't faint :)

Craig... Being skinny is bad, nothing to brag about. I want to be toned/lean. You sound anorexic. You shouldn't have to eat 50% less, thats crazy.

I just bought some maximuscle thermobols, they should help.

Cheers guys!

skinny is bad word, slim and kind of sculpted I think should be used. english isnt my native

You say I shouldn't eat 50% less, but then - how did you grow your stomach to the level that you cannot accept it anymore? I mean decreasing the food amount is primary way to loose weight. You can go to the gym and eat even more, you will even develop the better shape and tone, but after some time you'll stop excercising and your tendency will come up again. I have lot of friends who fought with beer belly or with overall fat, they spent a lot of money for excercises, supplements, bikes and long runs, but finally they always got into the wrong shape again. Because they always were used to eat a lot more than they needed.

By the way, In general, men gain weight with age, at the age of 69 I prefer to be a slim oldman than roundfaced ex-sportsmen with stomach fat, which is so casual when I look at most of the older guys around me, who fought with their fat so long and finally got defeated anyway, because of habit of eating more than they really needed.

im 19 and have abs but i eat 50% more than i did before i lifted weights a year ago. your not going to get anywhere without proper diet. just stay away from fast food, white grains, butter, mayo, anything deep fried. pretty basic shit other than that eat as much as you want. youtube ab ripper x its an amazing ab workout just 15 minuites. do this three times a week. no more though you need time to recover. try to hit the gym as much as you can cause working all your muscles will burn stored fat.

craig, if you just eat less you will have less fat for sure but you will also lose muscle (not only that but you will be less healthy), wheras if you eat enough and cardio out extra calories to have a calorie defecit, you will keep your muscles. If you want to grow muscles while losing fat, do cardio and strength train and take in 1g of protien for every pound of your ideal weight every day.

Eat less + exercise more = lose fat

You guys are a little too hung up on cardio. Burning calories is burning calories, no matter how you do it. The bottom line is, strength training is important for almost any fitness goal, whether you want to lose fat, gain muscle or just get in better condition.

Anybody who tells you shitloads of cardio is necessary to lose fat either has no idea what they're talking about or is operating on science from 50 years ago.

What you want to do is increase your resting metabolic rate (i.e., the speed of your metabolism when you're not doing anything), since you spend more time sitting around than you do exercising no matter who you are. The best way to do this is to build muscle, since it takes twice the calories to maintain a pound of muscle as it does a pound of fat. This means you can burn extra calories by just sitting around after you've established a relatively strong muscle base.

To do this, you need to eat approximately 1 gram of protein per pound you weigh every day, lower your sugar intake and increase your fiber intake. Eliminate any high fructose corn syrup or trans fat from your diet.

Then, start strength training. To get the most bang for your buck, look into high-intensity training.

You might want to look at the health and fitness section of the board (toward the bottom of the screen) for more information on this stuff. There are some pretty educated guys that hang out down there.

Your boy,
870

Some of the previous posters have only given you partially correct answers. 870 was the closest though, but there's a lot more to it than just that. Getting rid of that lingering stomach fat is notoriously difficult and a weight training program alone simply won't cut it.

You don't say whether you're currently on some sort of gym program so I'm just gonna assume that you're not.

You need to do three things:

-Start weight training
-Follow a strict diet
-Do high intensity cardio

The first two are quite self-explanatory so I'll only elaborate on the cardio. You'll want to do these either directly after your weight training or on an empty stomach in the morning. I prefer post weight training. Look into High intensity interval training programs. I've found that they are the most effective.

If you want me to elaborate further then just ask and I'd be happy to.

You're also just gonna need to accept that losing that last bit of fat is extremely difficult and it's gonna take a long time.

Good luck!
