Rock some dreads, make them clean and not nappy like some of the rastas out there. If they're clean they'll definitely turn heads. Braids can be removed though, so if you don't want anything permanent just go with the braids for that sake alone.

DO NOT GET DREADS!!!! I am also in Texas, and that shit is dirty, nappy, and makes your head look like it is in need of serious brushing. If you are wanting to keep your hair and do something with it, then braid the shit. Seriously, a nice braid can look very good, but take a long fucking time to do. Pay someone who knows what they are doing. It is the same as having a nice haircut, by a professional. It makes the world of difference. Why go with dreads? They just shout, LAZY!!!!

Both are awesome. If you havent tried any of them, I recommend braids because you can take em out within 2 months. Dreads are more difficult, you may have to cut your hair...

And yes, braids get really greasy too.

Well dreads like any other hair style requires care, so your statement isnt really accurate, if you have a fade/braids what have you, and you don't take care of said hair. It will indeed get "nappy", I have seen dudes with dreads cleaner than braids and fades.....

My hair isnt that long 3-4 inches, braids hurt like hell for me....dreads seem to atteact females more than braids. But I still dont know.

Yeah, I was a braid virgin so I didnt know how to take care of it properly.

And yes it hurts a lot! I recommend anybody with masorchistic tendencies to get braids. You get 2 hot girls hurting you for 2 hours for a few bucks...

I chopped my dreads off for getting a job, if I could, I'd have kept them...though I had the hairstyle called the squeeb in rock band. It was just three dreads shouldler length off the front and the rest no more than 2 inches long. I loved them and ALWAYS got complimented on the dreads.

Attitude attracts females, not your hair. Also how are you going to tell me that dreads aren't nappy when you are basically matting your hair into a fucking clump? That's right, you just contradicted the exact definition of what a dread is, now please shhhh, dreads are nasty, nappy, and make a person look unkempt. Why would you want that? Are you a Rasta? Do you want a Rasta chick? If not, then don't get dreads, they are not cool unless you're Jamaican.

bro I have seen dreads that are clean, so you statement is irrelevant, girls dig that shit real talk, and so do I....my hair just isnt long enuff you just gotta keep sppining them till they lock up neat, if you dont take care of them, they will lock up nasty which is what you probably are use to seeing, ME Im obessed with my hair so I know mine would be clean.

PS Im Half St.Lucian which is in the Virgin Islands soo yeah, My parent s wouldnt let me grow my hair out when I was younger, sooo yeah I have always wanted long hair.

Give me one picture of what you call "clean" looking dreads, and I will show you what "clean" braids look like and I can guarantee there is a noticeable difference in the impression you get of the person with both styles of hair. If YOU want dreads that is fine, I'm just telling you the impression they give off to the entire world. Except...if you're in Jamaica.

Well Dreads didn't originate from Jamaica, came from Africa first documented in Ethiopia, but yeah alright clean dreads and clean braids don't compare, I was just saying clean dreads are indeed possible.

I'm not talking about the origin of dreads, I was speaking on cultures that accept dreads. The most common culture where you see someone rocking dreads is in Jamaica.

Lil' Wayne? Yes, that guy can probably pull off most any hairstyle because he has copious amounts of swagger. I agree though, he has some clean dreads, that are nice and tight. I guess what I am trying to boil it down to is that pulling off dreads is a pretty difficult task, where as pulling off braids isn't that hard of a task, because they just look good.

Take this kid right here for example, the braids just look good! I'm kind of jealous that I can't wear braids, or even dreads!
