About 90 % of the attractive girls in my town speak a different language to me. They also seem to have a certain stereotype about the English guys in the town and are less receptive to them.

I speak it too, but it's my second language, so I'm not as proficient in it.

Would it be beneficial to do the initial approach in their language and then switch over?

No I don't think that would be better, cuz if they look back on the night they might figure out that you did that only to approach them. So I wouldn't suggest it.
