Alright, so basically this summer I got a cartilage piercing on the top of my left ear. I wear a stud. Females like it... I get many IOIs because it. I have no problem talking about my piercing with females but my problem comes with males.

Some tease me about it. Sometimes calling it gay or something like this. I usually just stare them down and give them a what are you trying to prove?/where are you going with this? speech. After this I freeze and dont know what to do. It doesnt really mind me when im only with males but when females are there It doesnt make me look too good. Any tips on how to brush this off or use this to my advantage?

Thanks,
Shiller 8)

You have to impose your frame on them. You can just blow them off and continue on with your conversation thread. There is really no need to even acknowledge what they are saying.

If you feel like you HAVE to acknowledge what they are saying, then flip it around on them. Make a joke about the guy being homophobic, and immediately continue with your conversation thread.

There's also the old chestnut where people who call others gay are insecure about their own sexuality.

However I think it best to not acknowledge them or even:

Prick: "You know only gay people have that done."
You: "Oh."

Or if he interrupts you while talking to a girl or even just a mate:

"Oh (turn to friend), anyway as I was saying..."

i have my nose pierced (on the right side which is the gay-side with ear piercings) girls absolutely love it! but guys see it as an opportunity to dlv me with gay jokes or whatever, i do exactly what thomas the train and turn up the night have advised i.e. look at them like they are an unfunny loser who has just dlv'd himself and continue my conversation. works a charm. if you dont have an opportunity to do that you could always say something like "yes im gay, do you wanna get dinner some time?" sarcastically, this would point out the fact that piercings arent gay and whoever the amog is clearly lives a sheltered unadventurous life (if you use the right tone, otherwise he may actually think your gay hahah) anyways enjoy
