BUT! You must take all the positive parts from the dog (confidence, masculinity, fearlessness, good social skills, wit, etc.) and incorporate them into yourself. Then you can distinguish yourself from the dog by NOT displaying his negative points (lying to get sex, faking a relationship to get sex, being over aggressive, wanting to fight anyone that stands in your way, etc.)...In short you're becoming the happy medium. Think of a bell curve with AFC on the far left, asshole on the far right, and PUA right smack dab in the middle.
I see. I'll give you a frame where I come from:
I don't kiss ass, nor do I open up easily. I go, I'm normally wary, since I make sure not to say anything that fries me. I drink some beers, and I loosen up a bit, but I don't drink too many to which I'm babbling and acting like a fool. I balance my drinking.
I put up a million walls, and that kills me. My social skills are weak, as I've been living with ADD and a sheltered life since I was little. I know literally nothing about how the social game works, save for introducing myself and overcoming my fear of approaching people through working in retail. (Sales saved my life. Seriously).
Fortunately, thanks to advice from people wiser and more successful than I, I know what women are attracted to, and that's attitude. Positive attitude. I try to maintain a positive attitude wherever I go, and sometimes, I get a few hookups. (Proven there's alcohol at the ready). But, pair me with two to three other guys who've had more social experience than I have, and I'm a dead fish in the water. Competition-wise, I'm a caveman fighting the Terminator. I simply do not (yet) have the skills to ensure I'm safe to go.

As far as your "friends" stealing the girl, you have a few options:
A.) Don't go out looking for girls with these friends.
B.) If they really are your friends, lay down the rules of engagement.
C.) Out-game them.
Ok, I'll be honest..It's one "friend" who does this (I'm paranoid about my other friends, cause I've SEEN them do that shit in the past, but never to me. Not sure why). This one "friend" (No longer is) was the person I knew since I was a child. He is a manipulative, angry prick, who has no morals. The first, and only time he stole my girl was this past sunday, where I went to a bar with him and his friends from work. I bonded with them, and made the girls feel good. The hottest girl of them all (IMO) was eyeing me. We had a few drinks, and we talked for 30 minutes. Then, we were making out and stuff. I go to the bathroom to pee, and I come back...my "friend" and the girl I was with were gone, and my friends "girlfriend" (who was also there), was crying hysterically.
I had to play wet shoulder boy for 30 min, then she was good to go. I had to walk over 20 blocks, in zero degree weather, to take the bus back home (I was in NYC, and I had no money, since my friend said he was gonna take me home with his "girlfriend").
So, I text him, calling him dog, shit, vermin, and whatever else you can imagine. He says "It is what it is. I don't care". I also learned he talked to his "girlfriend", and now they're "back together".
...see where I'm coming from? And this isn't the first time this "friend" screwed me over.
...I am convinced EVERYONE is like this. That is why I don't want any guy friends. To me, all other guys are dogs who deserve death.
I have trauma. I'm currently seeing a psychologist, and she prescribed medicine to me (Which has eradicated my ADD symptoms, and set me right).
...I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk. I'm warped, and I need to filter out these negative emotions.
This may sound like a stupid question, but...are there really nice people out there who don't screw others over?
