I just want to add..
I am white but I lived in Asia for two years and there's a lot of stereotypes about white guys there, some good, some bad.
Most of the hot, smart women in Asia are not really interested in white guys contrary to what gets said. I thought that sucked and it made me depressed.
So, I realized there were really two options:
1) Leave and go somewhere where this stereotype didn't exist.
2) Change myself to better fit society and be comfortable with who I was
I chose 2 to some degree. I let go of some of the machoism, muscle and western 'rudeness'. I realized that there were positive stereotypes that I could embrace: world traveler, outgoing, cool, 'big'

but let go of the negative ones.
So, I tried to embrace both some local traits while enhancing the ones from my background.
As an Asian guy, you will always differ from the norm in Scotland. So you really have to decide if you will conform somewhat or maybe leave for another place.
You can still be polite and career driven, but still work out and become more assertive. You don't have to change everything, just do a little bit more. Lift some heavy weights, don't take crap, be more outgoing and assertive, particularly with girls. So you meet them at what they are used to, but then you have that extra edge of being different.
