There's a temp at work, she's pretty young 17 (turning 18), I'm 25. even though I won't really date her. It would be nice to flirt with a younger woman

We smile when we pass each other, but every question/comment seems to be answered with one sentence and her carrying on walking/her work etc.

Can't seem to get her attention, either because she's shy or I'm just not doing a good job. Invitations to lunch (twice) always seem to be badly timed.

Basically what can I do to get longer conversations leading to possibility of dates etc?

Go up to her, stop her if you have to, and use a classic opinion opener. cant go wrong there cause she probably likes you.
