You won't look like an asshole if you're being upfront with her and telling the truth, maybe she gets upset at first but if you keep playing games, she will be hurt more, making you look like an asshole.

Tell her you didn't mean to give her the wrong impression, that you're attracted to her and thats why you kissed her, but that you dont play games and you like her more as a friend because you feel like dating her wouldn't work because of the age difference.

Or think of something better, this is really something basic. Just be honest with her and with yourself.
