Is making fun of my own flaws a bad thing because it lowers self value or is it good because I can make people laugh with it?

through my psyche classes ive learned that self deprecating humor means that you are close to being "self actualized" which means that your inner game is on lock down. so if you are comfortable enough hating on yourself, that should communicate that youre mad comfortable with yourself which is definitely an attractive quality. im no guru, but i think that its good

This is a really good question.

My traditional style of humour has been largely self depreciating. This generally is great for getting loads of friends and being considered a "sound bloke"

But in my opinion isn't great for Pick up.

It's more of a slow burn thing.

I can't really give advice.

As I see it

Cocky Funny - Great for picking up girls

Self Depreciation - More "Me" if a girl liked this side of me, I'd be more into a LTR.

I guess it opens up the whole

"Can a pick-up artist have successful LTR's?"

We change our behaviours to attract girls, but at some point we have to accept our own "selves"

In my case at times quiet, self depreciating and modest.

Hope this makes sense

I believe it's a good thing, it's a great way to show confidence. You're conveying your a confident guy and most of the time you can bring it up again later in the conversation.

there is a fine line between self deprecating humor, and not taking yourself too seriously. Go with the latter.

I wouldnt INITIATE self deprecating humor, ever. But when someone busts on you (even in a playful way), be unaffected by it and fuel it in another direction with sarcasm. it completely disarms your 'opponent' and is immensely attractive to make them laugh off something they actually busted on you for.
