Location: Ottawa, Canada | | When a girl brings up the fact that she has a boyfriend by saying something like "....yeah, my boyfriend and I are having problems....." Would you take that as a Shit Test, an ioi, her just keeping the conversation going, or something else?

You dont want to go there though, you dont want to ask her "oh yeah why is that?".
Ignore it, see it as an IOI ("hey this girl is probably willing to cheat on her boyfriend") and just continue talking about other stuff. Game her like you would game any girl.
If you take 'everything' as an IOI, your confidence builds up during the conversation and your frame will be immensely strong.
