Hey guys,

Im completely new to being a pick-up artist and I have been scanning the forums trying to find a good place to start in terms of research and learning what to do. I am currently reading The Game by Neil Strauss which inspired me into this life, and I am really interested in learning and becoming very good at it.

Ive read pretty much every sticky thread, and I am still pretty much lost as to where to start. I saw the different "schools of thought" and I'm thinking thats a good place to start asking questions.

Which school of thought is most fitting for somebody like me? I'm pretty talkative and pretty good looking and have had good but not great success with woman. I am very talkative and not shy at all. Woman are attracted to me initially, I just have trouble closing/isolating more than anything. I came on this site assuming that I would be using the mystery method because in The Game, it seems like Neil Strauss's preferred method, but after reading through a few things I am not so sure.

Which method is the best method for picking up girls? Which method is the easiest method to learn? Lastly, where the hell should I start?

I went to the bar the other night and gave my first half-assed shot at using some of the pick up methods that I pretty much only learned from reading The Game. I opened a set, but I didn't have much to say. I read in the book not to ask customary questions that every other guy asks, and as I was trying to not do that I couldn't think of anything else to say. So after I opened the set, I introduced myself(another no in The Game), and than continued a semi-awkward conversation until I reverted back to questions like "Where are you from", "what grade are you in"(i live at college).

My target, whom I ignored as I think I am suppose to, ended up turning her back to me after 5 minutes. It was a 3 set in a generally empty bar(finals week). I walked in and negged the target and then I stopped talking to her again and after 3 or 4 minutes she ended up turning her back and not talking to me again. She was staring at me too, so I'm pretty sure she was initially interested butI just lost her on the neg(I think I used "I like that dress, I saw a girl wearing the same one last night:).

Anyways, I just thought I'd throw that in there for good measure.

Any kind of push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
