I met this girl and she's pretty cool and we had a great time at a party.

Here's the catch, we found out that we have a lot of mutual friends. We're in college and she knows some of my closest friends (even my roommate).

I'm afraid that the stakes are really high in case I screw up because this can come back to haunt me if I don't succeed.

I'm relatively new to the game (about half a year), and although I'm aware that this is a self limiting belief, I don't know if this is worth it due to the stakes or if she's better off just being close and potentially attracting others through social proof (my friend tells me she's a 9).

Any opinions would be more than appreciated. =)

This is bullshit.

You are making a big deal out of this and it is not even important. So you try and fail. What is the worst thing that can happen? You have failed.

What could you posssibly do that would destroy your life? Will you try to jump her? Will you stalk her? Will you act like a complete pussy? The thing is, you are playing without risking anything. The only thing you risk losing is your precious feeling of not losing. You wont have a 100% successratio anymore. So what?!?!

If nothing happens between you then what is there to fear? Oooh oooh the feelings, the pain, its sooo hard to beeeaaar. No come on. If you have a crush on her and she notices, yes, she knows already. If she doesnt notice you will feel bad anyway. If something happens, well, thats what you wish for in any case.

There is nothing at stake and you have nothing to lose if you behave.

I've been in a similar situation before, but I just don't care what other people think, so I went for it anyway. It went well at first, till I went a bit greedy and went for her friends too...long story but it never really had that much of an effect on anything else I still see the whole group and its not awkward or anything. It will only be bad if you let it...
