mixed set transitioning help

I am having alot of trouble transitioning smoothly in mixed sets. It doesnt feel natural to ask how everyone knows eachother after my opener, it feels try hard. Im looking for a good way to transition with men in the group so i dont make any harsh cold reads on the wrong girl. Any ideas?
