A lot of it is finding what works for you, and if you want to be using routines and the like consistently, then you have to find what works for you.

"You have style. I like you. I want to know you. You have my interest. You show me your hand now. . . " - Who says that to complete strangers?
Why not something like this instead:
You: Woh, did you just come out of the hair salon? It's a perfect look for you.
Her: Thanks, blah, blah, blah . . .
(Instead of TELLING her that you like her style and you want to get to know her, you just DEMONSTRATED it to her)
You: Well, it's pretty freakin' hot! . . . and somewhat devious . . .
Her: Ha ha . . .what? Devious?!?
You: Well, it somewhat hides your . . . (then look down to her hand) Oh . . .yeah, that's what I thought . . .
Her: What the hell?
Then you just grab her hand.
You: Your lifeline is split from your brain line and you have an unusually longer index finger when compared to the ring finger . . .
Her: ??????
There's the hook.
