Are there routines that are so overused they are best left avoided? I am reluctant to use the 5 questions game for example because it seems so popular that i wouldn't be surprised if it has been written about since it's introduction in women's magazines or something.

I wouldnt realy say so mate, i think the main idea about the Game is, in my opinion and experience, that you manipulate and change routines to suit your own needs and personality. Things tend to run smoother and therefor are more effective when they come from what you are actualy like.

For instance im now quite a confident guy. So ive mainly ditched opinion openers because i come across as a guy who has a strong enough mind set to make an opinion and believe it. I dont need gratification so why would i ask for it.

Hope this helps

Regards, Saint

Uhm, there are SO many.

Like...

"If you could name three things you wanna be..."

And many others that Mystery invented.

I can't remember them now I'm at a mental block.

Just do your best to stay away from canned material.
If you have to use something memorized try to write your own stuff, that's how you learn and get good!

anything they've said on the TV show I'd avoid b/c so many ppl saw it

I'd agree with the others and say try to avoid canned material. if you have to use it, use an uncommon one if youre afraid of the girl saying shes "heard that one before"

Lol that would be so embarrasing.

An HB in a set once said "that's like something that guy mystery would say" to me. I wasn't even using an MM line or anything, I was just stuck being really robotic about the M3 method and had this one gay opener that transitioned into a DHV story I kept using that I started to recite like clockwork a lot.

If using the canned stuff helps you to overcome AA and build confidence, then by all means use it. But as soon as you have confidence, ditch it and work on developing a style that's congruent with your particular personality. I saw a video where Mehow opened with "Party's over HERE!" and just rolled into the set with super high energy and started kino plowing right away. His opener meant nothing and said nothing (it's not even asking for an opinion or any kind of response!), he just let his high energy, super c&f personality take over, and it didn't matter what exactly he really said.

Adam Lyons got credited with "the starbucks opener" because in one video he opened an HB on the street with "hey sorry to bug you, but do you know if there's like, a starbucks or something around here?" Now, there are a lot of seeming problems with this, it's not a "classic" opener - he's apologising "sorry to bug you", he has brain farts in his sentence "like", and comes off seeming unsure of what he's saying "or something" But you know what, he's confident and congruent in his frame and personality, and that comes off way more than WHAT he actually says.

These bits of material are just what specific guys think up and happen to use in field because it's the way they talk and how they express themselves. If you start going around saying "hey so can I get a female opinion on something, do you think guys or girls cheat more?" you're just copying what mystery or style would say, but is that really congruent with who you are? Girls will notice if, for example, you open with something really crazy, outlandish and high energy because you're a big Tyler fan, but then your personality is actually more low-key and you speak slowly and are more of a deep guy.

It's better to learn WHY the PUAs you like say certain things, and the WAY they say them, because then you come up with your own openers, on the spot, without ever having that worrying "omg think of something to say" moment where you freeze up.

Of course theirs routines that have been run into the ground... like the jealous g/f routine... but you really have no idea what the guy before you just said an your running a risk of getting caught. Why dont you scrap routines and be yourself. its the best thing you can be. now stop trying to be other people an be YOU!
