Singers are amongst the most unwanted people in the music industry. If your exceptionally good, then you'll get gigs, but money is hard to come by! and as you grow old your wasting away your bodies ability to produce anything spectacular. There are shows like American Idol, which lol... don't actually care about the singers, more about the people watching at home. If i could sing however, id immediately go into private teaching!

As for acting...

You have to know people, I've got a few connections! Ie directors, actors and film producers from Hollywood and some here from Sydney to shoot or holiday. Id say that you require allot of balls gets you gigs, ontop of being a exceptional actor. Looks are a must, if your ugly looking, you can forget it! Most people are not shooting world movies or documentaries! At the same time you don't necessarily have to be model material either! Somewhere in the better middle!

If you want solid gigs your going to have to go to the places and advertise yourself. If they call you in, youll probably have to do a audition, there are many different types of processes before you actually secure anything.

The music scene is different, you can easily get gigs but its based on numbers, as venues look for how many people will buy their booze. If you can get 200 people every time, youd be welcome to play anywhere. The music scene is dead, if your thinking of starting a band, don't bother, there is enough bands, and instrumental music is in absolutely no demand. As a musician youd be best off being a solo DJ, with the most basic of setups to entertain the crowd. Youd probably even get a shag or fuck out of it, as women see you as something spectacular.

Even if you were a recording engineer, producer, lights, camera man, there is not enough work to go around for everyone. Its honestly based on connections and your own personal ideas.

There is also teaching, thats available! If you want to teach music, or teach to act, there is always work avenues for that! Private or public school teaching. But most people hate that!

I used to do modeling, thats dependent on your agent! get a agent or manager, and he will find you gigs. Women are by far more wanted as models, but if your really good looking and you have a phenomenal body posture, your used to the camera, then you'll do great! Check the yellow pages for a agent! they do take some of your profit! but if you don't make money, they generally don't either.

I have to point out that I've seen far better looking men then me, who don't make the mark and are now selling perfume at Myer. Its a really daunting thing... I had a gay friend Andrew who looks like Ewan McGregor! Almost picture perfect... its bizarre, and he is currently giving out little perfumed paper leaflets to random people on the street!
