walking a person home

so i was with a female friend of mine.
We met up to do our studies at the library at night.
After that, i offered to send her home but she refused. (We walk home)
She stays only 10 mins away.

The conversation went something like this (in summary).

She: Is your place this direction?
Me: No. i am walking u home.
She: Oh...no need. Noone sends me home.
Me: U sure...i feel kinda bad if i dont walk you home.
She: Sure. It is safe here.

And so i left.

The question is, if she is someone i have interest in, what should i have done or say?
