Ok,

So I've known this girl for about 1.5 year now, but I rarely talk with her anymore (and even when I did, it was in university 1.5 years ago and it was still quite rare).

I recently started chatting with her again and well the problem is that I cant seem to get much interesting conversation going, mainly because I am more of a face to face person.

I tried inviting her out to lunch, but she made up an excuse not to come out...means im not in comfort yet. But aside from meeting her at a common event (which would be the only face-to-face interaction, but hard to set up) is there anything I can do over IM to get a meeting outta this?

I've had this issue in the past and the solution is simple. Just chat and try and get back into comfort with her. If you know/or can find something that she likes that you also like in terms of a party, restaurant, type of food etc, go for a close saying that you and your friends are heading out to ______ and that she should come. Its a very low pressure situation so it doesnt seem like a date. But if that doesnt work, you havent seen her for a year and a half so no worries, dont get too invested in her and move on
