Ok…there we go :
There’s this guy, a colleague of mine, we go to the same class on Monday. I’ve seen him a couple of times here and there, but never talked to him. I guess what actually did stop me at first was that the first time when I saw him, he was with his girlfriend. I don’t know if they are still together, for sure she isn’t taking the same class. So…the last 2 lectures, on purpose or not he came and sat next to me.
The first time I wasn’t really thinking of him as a target cos I wasn’t really sure if I want him or not. But after the lecture I started thinking…I got to the point ‘Oh fuck it…I want him’.
Last Monday…he was sitting next to me again (and have in mind that the lecture hall isn’t small at all… some 200 seats). While I was thinking ‘to approach or not, this is the question’ the 3 seconds rule got me(moreover the lecture started)…it was too late. Even though we didn’t say a single word, there were IOIs, all the same but a lot of them! Every time I looked in his direction (but actually looking at the professor, not at him) he just turned… 90 degrees and looked at me. I made an eye contact once… but it was too fast, I couldn’t even see if he was smiling. Gosh… picking up in a club , on the street, in front of the uni, but during a lecture? Teach me guys…
More over… the problem is that I have no idea if next Monday he is gonna decide to sit next to me again. I don’t like moving targets… but I will sure go for it. Cross your fingers and drop some advices? What would work in that kinda situation?
P.s I was thinking of an opener, something like ‘ Did we have enough time of ‘not talking’ already or should I wait for another semester ?’ or just simply ‘You can say HI, I don’t bite’… any suggestions on that?

In my opinion, the first opener you suggested is good as long you follow up with an introduction. Notice that it also conveys you have wanted to talk to him beforehand. Commenting or questioning about the things that is going on around you guys is also a good idea.
