Hi, im somewhat new to the game so im pretty much a AFC, but im alright when it comes to natural, but i was wondering, when does peacocking become too much, you see Mystery with a huge fur hat on, but for me, thats not my style, and im sure not all PUA`s would wear something like that, what are some other things that you can use to peacock that dont make you stand out like a guy with a big fur hat?

Thanks!!

Peacocking is often done wrong my advice is to go through this thought process;
1. Does the item match my style
2. Do I look like a dickhead with it on
3. Can women notice it/mention it without seeming weird
4. If you are that way inclined can you tell a cool story about it

get a Y N Y Y and you are set

oh forgot to add not all peacocking is dressing up if you dress down you are effectively peacocking. SO yar think of the environment and make sure you don't look like everyone else

I'm with you man! A big furry hat and big ole boots is NOT my style!

Main thing with peacoking is, If you wanna peacock make sure its congruent with who you are.

DONT wear a fuzzy hat and big boots if if that's not who you are. Your just trying to make people think your confident, and trying to be someone your not. Its so transparent and EVERYONE will see through it.

great peacock items range from small things such as badass watches, necklaces, glasses, hair dye, etc. something that someone can comment on or feels the need to point out , to maybe just an awesome unique jacket that you like to wear that catches the eye of a passerby

there's SO MANY items out there you can rock for your peacocking item
just keep it unique and keep it congruent. ;)

Just to offer a counterpoint, while congruence with your personality and style are important, that doesn't mean that the peacocking must be subtle or understated. My "style" involves complete costumes. I wouldn't wear a fuzzy hat and cowboy boots, but I would wear a cowboy hat and cowboy boots (also a bolo tie and a canvas shirt.) Generally speaking, I'd say that a completely unsubtle peacocking ensemble as long as you feel confident and comfortable wearing it.

yea i agree w/ what most people said, just make sure it convays ur own style & personality. I dont go over the top peacocking, a bright shirt & some jewellery does it for me, but everyones differant.

Peacocking is lame! You want to be fashionable male. Nothing more, nothing less.

All you are doing is buying yourself an extra 60 seconds of time when you open a set because you look like someone she would want to be with. It also makes it easier for her to open you - if she likes you - without is seeming try hard. Something like, "I like your shoes." If you aren't wearing anything cool she has a hard time giving you a compliment and showing her interest.

Again, peacocking = weird nerd bullshit. Fashionable male is where it's at.

You're the boss, 'cause your picture's featured at the top of the forum, but I'm going to rebut this point. If you're right about this, and I'll grant that you probably are, some of us really are weird nerds. I'm proud of the fact that I'm a weird nerd. I look quite dapper in a suit, but a kilt, while utterly unbelievable, is no less fashionable.

If you're peacocking just for utility, then yeah, maybe it's best to cut it out. If you really enjoy the idea of standing out in some peculiar way, I say you should go for it.

Kilts will get you laid! I've seen it! Kilts say, "I'm crazy, ballsy party guy and I don't give a fuck what people think about me!" Mohawks say the same thing.

But even Mystery ties all his shit together in a fashionable way. It's goth but it all works! Weird as it may be, the outfit works. What you don't want to do is mix and match in an effort to stand out. That doesn't work!

You also have to take into account your own social intelligence and what your outfit says about you. If you were to walk into a crowded club dressed like Mystery, you would get attention. If you were to walk into a bar of 26 people you would get laughed out of the building! Why? Because your outfit says, "I'm completely oblivious to my surroundings!"

You have to be a little street smart when deciding what to wear! That's why girls always ask, what are you wearing? If one dresses down and the other dresses up, that's an embarrassing situation for everyone involved.

In any case...

If your primary focus when buying clothes is "peacocking" you are fucking up. Being a fashionable male MAKES YOU STAND OUT FROM THE HERD in a congruent way! I am a fashion whore. I like a lot of things that I can't pull off simply because they don't work for me! Peacocking disregards this concept! I reject it as a theory because it's lame!

I like peacocking... Not necessarily because it improves my game that much... I just get another reason for wearing strange stuff, like having a private masquerade party.

Well, there are some good things about peacocking, like Sinn says, it can show that you dont really care what other people would think about the stuff you wear. And yes even Mystery wears it well, it is his style. It is who he is and it is fashionable if he thinks that it is fashionable.

However, I think peacocking is often misused. It is given more credit than it should have. I think that many followers of the MM use the peacocking stuff to enter an alternative personality, an avatar. That way they hide from the fact that they have to feel the shame when facing embarrassing situations out there. It wasnt me, it was my avatar.

Peacocking is going with the theory that the most decorated male will get the attention, right? However what is missing from that definition is the memento that one must be comfortable with their decoration. Me? I wear fitted/tight shirts and clothes because I'm comfortable enough that these clothes will show off my body in a positive manner. Would I ever wear skin tight jeans? Absolutely not. I have the form for it but I just do not feel good wearing them. When something about us makes us self conscious, people see right through it.

I gotta go with Sinn as far as being a fasion whore. I wish like hell I could pull off a mohawk or some of the crazy stuff Mystery walks around with. But, it just isn't me. Having style is ALWAYS a positive thing as anyone can appreciate someone who dresses like they have their shit together. But, remember, dress within your comfort zone. Dress to impress, but the first person you should be impressing is yourself.

Feeling good in your body/clothes is the best kind of peacocking you can do.

Peacocking is the theory that says that women are attracted to men who survive despite their "decorations". Problem with that crap is that it's only found in birds... not mammals. Hence the term "peacocking". Birds lure predators away from the nest with bright feathers. The female is camouflaged and thus the young survive. Once again, birds do this. Not people.

False.

Fact is most guys dress like shit. It's slowly getting better. UFC and reality tv is making guys more and more fashion conscious but I digress. Whenever I get a new student the first thing we do is a complete fashion makeover...

And most of the time they are uncomfortable with their new style. Why? Cause they are used to their previous shitty look. Yet stepping outside their comfort zone is vital to their success with the opposite sex.

I hope that clears up some of the confusion on the subject. I'm done posting about it.
