You'll never guess what I was coming home from the gym i was walking accross a field with trees on one both sides i think this guy was staring from the opposite side of me, this freaked me out loads, turns out it was this girl who was checking me out lol.

Not really no, essentially you are just saying you saw someone checking you out, there is no real evidence to back it up and to be honest, the story sounds kinda lame. It is a try hard story, mentioning the gym and being checked out by some girl, that looked like a guy - so this girl, she was butch? Had facial hair? etc.

A DHV is not meant to sound that desperate, what would be the next step from this, if you used it? The set would just go silent, you would have lost their attention, and in turn, their respect for completely killing the mood.

A DHV isnt just a story. This happening in itself IS a DHV. People looking at this will pickup on it. If you was to make it a story, you could say you had a stalker hiding behind trees, following you home. Or make it sound that way.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, for me, this 'story' would have no real relevence to the target, sure, it will raise one's own self confidence, knowing this girl was checking you out, but I don't believe it would get the desired response when trying to game a girl in a bar/club etc, personally I would adapt it, make it more of a funny event, perhaps saying that I thought a girl was checking me out, and it turned out to be a guy. This would come across as slightly more light-hearted and not as intentionally trying to pick up this girl, and would be much easier to move on to the next piece of material.
