ok, ive been thinking about this quite a lot.

some guys say that one shouldn't show any kind of interest to a girl, for example when she gives you an IOI like "hey i like your new hairstyle", then you should go unimpressed, so as to say subtly "yes of course, thats why i chose it girl". you know, never show that you wanna have that girls attraction, and always seem cool and unimpressed, so that in her mind, you are the ultimative cool guy that she becomes needy and starts wanting you more and more.

then others say (including me) that one should give them back something for their IOIs (rewarding nice behaviour towards you), maybe even hint on your intention, be flirty. like being playful. so as in "hey i like your new hairstyle" to answer "and i liked your old one"/"I like yours too, though its not new".

i personally like eyecontacting them, giving them a facial expression that says "hmmmm i like what i see. you intrigue me", i like to hint on my intention in a playful not-so-serious way.
for example we talk about ther ex in the round. wing "your old bf was soo in to hiphop, maybe you should go for a rocker guy now" and i go "...EXACTLY!(exagerated" (i sing in a rockband). and everybody would laugh on that.

so what do you think? is it better to be really really cool, or is it better to go down with your value on their level, risking going lower than them and losing their attention?

I think you need to make your intentions known asap. If you dont, you risk coming across as a friend or someone who is... I dunno not interested sexually? try both ways and see what results you get buddy.
