At the top click "View/Edit Profile" then scroll down to the bottom. You will have the option to add a photo. However, it can be no bigger than 100 pixels by 100 pixels in size for you avatar on the side.
To add pictures in your signature you can use the Example:
brackets around the URL for where the photo is located online. You put this in the signature section of your profile.
