I often get "faggot," "that's the gayest thing I've ever seen" and "get a hair cut" when I'm out and about (obviously in relation to my hair). Usually it's from a large group of guys, so it doesn't bother me at all and I ignore it, but sometimes there'll be girls around too and I'm not sure how to reply in these situations (to disarm the guys and DHV the girls).

To give you an idea of what it's like; I play in a band and we play 80's sleaze type stuff.. so my hair is big, long and peroxided blonde. While I grew it and styled it like that for band reasons, after getting interested in the seduction community I've realised that it's actually an amazing pea-cocking tool, because near every time I go out I'll get atleast one girl coming up to me asking me about it. So yeah, any ideas on what to say when I'm getting AMOG'd and also is there any way I can further use it to my advantage with girls? Usually I just answer their questions and then that's it, but I'd be a fool to not use it to keep conversation going with them. An idea that I had was when some girls ask if it's a wig, maybe say something like:

Me: "Do you think it's a wig?"

HB: "No/yes (it doesn't matter) blah blah," *trys to give it a pull to see*

Me: "Woah, hold up there, what if it is a wig and your pulling it off is going to embarrass me infront of all these other girls? Don't you care about my feelings?"

HB: "Oh, I'm sorry, blah blah"

Me: "I'm not sure that I can forgive you that easily, how about you find me again later when you're ready to apologize properly?" *turn tail and walk off*

Is this a good idea or not? Any tips on improving it or just scrap it completely?

2 options.
become a sleazy 80's rocker (so that you are congruent) or scrap it completely and get a haircut.

if it was a wig then it'd be cool. it's a prop. its fun.
but it's not.
you're the weird guy with the crap hair.
you're dave mustain without the fame and/or groupies/sick guitar skillz

standing out is one thing... looking like shit while standing out is a completely different thing.

i think it's clear where i stand on this.

however, if you dont want to cut it, embrace your inner sleazeball.
buy leather pants. wear old shirts with ripped off sleaves. wear a bandanna. become... i dunno... megadeth? pantera? ...europe?
maybe grow a mullet and claim that you time-travelled from the 80s.
(and yes, i'm kidding)

I've never once been told that it looks shit, in fact most girls who come up and talk to me about it love it, but yeah.. not really up for cutting it, haha. Embracing my inner sleazeball might be the go, I suppose I don't really act the part most of the time and I probably should.

well dude, if you like it and girls like it then what's the problem?

amog: "your hair is gay"
pua: "cool man"/ "*turn to girls* i think he's hitting on me" / "*turn to girls* i bet her secretly wishes his hair was this awesome"

problem solved.

I find the less you say the better....The best comment IMO is to just say somthing like "Hows that working for you" and then lauph you ass off and look at your friends or people around you like he is a tool....he will prob go on about how he going to kill you then I just keep lauphing and say "I heard you the first time bro you can go now" lol

Alright there Builder, congrats on standing up for the best musical era ;) lol

Strangely, I do have insight to this - I go to an alternative club alot, and I was coincidentally talking to three guys in there recently - all of which were dressed as 80's hair metal rockers. And they ALWAYS dress like this.

Firstly, they were really nice guys - which is often not even thought about by the 'mainstream folk', as I would call them. They just see you and them as wierd.

I put this very question to them.

"What do you do when people comment on your look?"

And almost by magic; it happened. I couldn't quite believe my timing, just as I couldn't believe reading this post not long after the events.

*laugh* "Nice hair" *cue more laughing*

Two'amogs', as you can call them, walked past with three girls - the group giggling.

80's rocker turned slowly, gave a disapproving up and down look that I wish I could of filmed. And then broke into a slow smile.

"You too".

He laughed, and then turned back to me, and continued his conversation.

Were you expecting fireworks? A fight maybe? I was at least. But what I realised was that this guy was truely congruent in his personality. He was a rocker. He was rebellious and had the 'I don't give a fuck' attitude. It was all there.

You know what the amogs did? Walked off.

You don't need lines, the only thing you need is consistency. You can't dress like a rocker and expect to be treat normally 100% of the time. You should enjoy both positive and negative of the look - thats why you wear it right?

And before you say, "But how does that help pick up?", I'll leave you with the half hour later thing I noticed.

The rockers laughing with that very group that mocked them. They just walked up and started talking. The amogs couldn't amog them any more.

Why?

They didn't get offended, and took the insult as a joke. Surely thats the bigger man, and the biggest disarmer of them all. How can you insult someone who doesn't find an insult insulting?

Just before a gig, so obviously I wouldn't be dressed to that extent out and about. I still dress pretty rock n' roll, but I wouldn't wear the stockings under ripped jeans and shit, haha.

I actually love that, "you too" line.. I'll definately be using it! I usually say something like, "what was that, mate?" and act as hostile as I can, but the truth is I'm not a very hostile person and, while everyone's always backed down so far, eventually I'm going to end up saying it to someone who doesn't and get my arse handed to me, haha. Not something I really want to happen.

I really dug that story, inspired me to get a bit more 'I don't give a fuck' myself. If you don't make a big deal out of things then there isn't one, right?

id say like riot said. just live the part naturally. similar to russel brand. its my favorite music era, and the persona was what atracted the women and record sales. as much as i liked the 80 rock. there was much instrument skill or thought out lyrics. it was about persona.

it shows more character then 99% of men out there and your not just apart of a fad. i think it awesome and most girls still listen to that music. and would poblably go crazy for that as long as you held true to the "i dont give a fuck" image.

Haha love the pic bro; you play bass too! Always a plus from me - I'm in a band myself, and good bassists are a rare commodity. So someone who plays the low tones is always good in my book :D

Thats the thing - everyone expects you to act hostile; but one lesson I picked up a long time ago is that if you never take an insult as an insult, how can anyone put you down? They'll give up - because you act like you think they're joking! And then they'll have an ego boost, because they're now a comedian! And now they like you because they connect those feelings to you! All simple psychology.

Its what you look like, so don't give a shit man - remain friendly and approachable, and don't let anyone change your style! haha, and if you score any chicks using your hair...I dunno, pull a girls hair and say, 'hey, we look the same :P' let us know. Rep your way!

Theres a challenge.

Glad I could help.

Riot.
