This is a good way to think about it but I'm going to try to explain this a little bit more. I've been around the forum a bit longer than Lostboy so perhaps I can help explain a little better.
DHV or Demonstrations of Higher Value are designed to flip the attraction switches in women. Mystery and others have identified certain things guys do that women are very attracted to. These haven't changed really over time. These are...
1.
Leader of Men (Celebrities, world leaders: women just always seem to like them.) This doesn't have to be conveyed at you are the president to get the girl, just that you're the leader of your social circle. I define this one because it was tough for me to figure this out.
2.
Pre-Selection by Other Women they can skip a step of qualifying you. Help her by demonstrating this.
3.
Protector of Loved Ones women like to feel safe & secure!
4.
Willingness to Show Emotion - no one likes a robot

Non-neediness don't show you're too interest. Being needy and 'clingy" is a big turn off. You have the I don't need her attitude and that she needs you more. At least for the first bit of interaction.
There is a bigger list but these are the core 5 that I would concern myself with. Honestly, for the best explanation I would read the Venutian Arts Handbook or Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed so you can here how Mystery himself describes it but I'll give you a summary.
I won't get into the "Why" of the ones above but understand it's very proven they DO WORK.
They thing you want to know is HOW do I convey these things to get girls liking me. This is where you will here many of us state you need to come up with DHV stories or DHV routines. These are short stories you tell the girl that have these "DHV Spikes" in them.
Maybe you are telling them about your sister and how this one time you helped her out of a jam at 2 in the morning. That would demonstrate protector of loved ones.
Maybe you're talking with the girl about ART and you casually mention your "past girlfriend" was into ART heavily too. By mentioning your past girlfriend you convey you are "Pre-selected" by other women so there isn't as much need for her to screen you. If you're safe to someone else then you should be safe for her. She gets to almost skip a step.
Which is good for you!
Think of things that have happen to you in your life. Figure out how to make them a short "interesting" 3-5 minute story. After you get into the group you are going to tell these stories to build attraction. You need to convey the things on the list above to get her wanting you because you flipped these attraction switches in her with the DHV spikes.
The story again doesn't have to be super special or funny but just interesting to listen to.
