so I've been gaming this group of girls in one my class and I've been doin really good with one. I get the most IOI's and feel like I've built up a little attraction. So were sittin in class one day and were talking she says " how do you hold your girlfriends' hand?"

so me not always knowing the difference between a afc and pua move I just react and grab her hand quickly and assertively and kinda do the palm to palm hand hold where you have your front four fingers in between her thumb and for finger. just as I do that I can tell by the look in her face that I did something wrong. so I immediately correct and say or sometimes like this. and switch to the hand hold where you interlock all your fingers into hers then I say "why how do you?"
obviously she picks the interlocking way and says the other way is the grandpa/dad hand hold, thats how you hold your dads hand.

was this a shit test or was it an IOI IDK I think I just jumped at the opportunity for some easy kino before I thought about it. how should I have handled it if it was a shit test?

Maybe it was a congruence test, maybe it wasn't. I think you caught a serious IOI there, though, and you've been putting off escalating on this girl for way too long.

IOIs are addictive, I know. And you might be worried that if you escalate you'll stop getting them. But you've got a yellow light now, dude. This girl is into you. Time to hit the gas before the light turns red.

"Congruence test" is merely a less misogynistic term for "shit test." It's when you're projecting yourself to be this cool, money guy, and the girl is getting attracted to you, but she has to know if it's real or not. So she'll do something bitchy/catty/whatever or act like she doesn't like you to see how you'll react. If you react poorly, you'll break her state and she'll lose attraction. If you react well (read: don't let her affect your state), then she'll become MORE attracted to you because you've just demonstrated that what she saw in you was real and you aren't putting on a front.

That's why a lot of people like calling them "congruence tests" instead of "shit tests." The girl has a damn good reason for doing it, and you've got to respect that. She needs to know if you're for real, and this is her way of figuring it out.

Either way, a congruence test is an IOI. Girls don't congruence-test guys they aren't attracted to; they just blow them off.

And an IOI is a yellow light. It's the girl's way of letting you know that she wants you to escalate on her and it's time to man up. Fail to do so and you're either socially uncalibrated or just a wuss. OR she'll be convinced that you aren't attracted to her despite her sending you signals, and protect her ego by convincing herself that she wasn't attracted to you anyway.

In that way, an IOI is also a form of congruence test.

Either way, you need to isolate this girl and close. Fast. Before she loses hope.
