Don't try to be all "Alpha" and exert control over the group or anything like that because it will only work against you. Just go in with the objective of being their best friend. Make them laugh, make them smile, make them feel good about themselves and about you. Just don't do it in an under-handed or lying way, be honest. Everyone has things that you can like about them, so just find something that you like about the guy and you'll be able to connect with them on it. Now depending on what your objective here is, whether you're talking about guys in groups of girls that you just want to get to like you so that you can get to the girl, or guys that are trying to screw you over, or guys that you seriously want to be friends with, you'll have to go about this different ways.

If he's trying to make you look bad, or he seems like he might because he's that type of guy - often these are the Alpha Omega types - then I compliment them on something they are wearing, a tattoo/piercing, or something superficial. Don't compliment them on some skill they have, like if they're really good at pool or something, because this will work to their advantage and these guys are the ones that are trying to douche you out.

If he's a friend of the girl you're interested in and you want to become friendly with him and he's not a douche, then you can do the same thing as above, but you can also compliment them on skills they have, as they're usually already in the friend zone and you don't have to worry about them fighting over the girl with you too much. Then you want to bond with them over something. Again, this just depends what you like about the guy and what you're both into. If you're a sports guy, then see if he's into sports, or cars, or video games, or whatever it is you both like and can connect on.

If you're just trying to make friends, then same thing as above, only you're going to obviously have to connect on more levels and begin to form a deeper understanding of each other.

For anyone you're just meeting, if they say something that you don't agree with or whatever, then you can just smile and nod and pretend like you do agree until you've established a decent level of rapport. Usually when people are meeting new people, they don't have a fucking clue what the other person likes, or doesn't like and so they'll say things without thinking, or to probe and find out what you think. Once you begin to know someone though, you learn how to phrase things in ways that won't offend them and that will connect with them more. This is just a matter of learning to understand each other and it's not manipulative or anything like that, it's just like how you change the way you talk when you speak to your friends, or your parents, or a girl you like.

That's actually a very sound piece of advice to take to heart. If somehow one of these guys does attempt to "douche":P you out just agree with them and do NOT get defensive otherwise they've succeeded.

As for gaming guys, you don't really need to. Just chat about things you would with your male friends and try to find common ground and have a laugh, just don't be that new guy that you meet out that you and your friends would've had a bitch about in your AFC days.
