i find when i am trying to retell a story it helps to cut the story down into video segemtns. you can retell each segement in greater detail describing the eviornment, the way the people look, the sounds, etc. it is also good to desribe how you felt during the story.
pausing is also something that you can use to your advantage. after each sentence leave half a second to a second pause, so your previously said statement can sink in to the audience before you deliver a new one.
if you're trying to explain a concept or idea in front of a large group i find that it really helps to slow down your speech. i find that if i speak to fast i get ahead of myself and start to stumble or loose my train of thought. speaking slowly makes sure that you don't get ahead of yourself and also makes it easier for the audience to understand you and grasp your ideas.
slowing down your speech also makes you appear higher value. people who speak fast do this because they are trying to get their message across as quickly as possible because subconiously they are afraid they can't hold the audiences attention or because they are nervous. high value people speak in a slow confident pace.
if you want to improve your speaking infront of an audience or in all contexts it helps to be aware of what happened throughout your day and try to tell 1 new story ever day. if you don't have a story for that day, share an interesting fact or tell something new. by doing this you will become a better speaker and story teller.
