Hi all.
Ok, so I was just reading reviews of the "Pickup Artist" show by Mystery on the Internet, and then after reading
this article, I started getting annoyed.
I don't understand. What is it about the "PUA" community that makes everyone seem to hate it?
Also to make it even more irritating, I don't think I've ever come across an article that actually critiqued their techniques on a deep basis. None of them seem to have thoroughly evaluated these PUA methods and then actually explained why they disagree with these.
I'm angry because people like Mystery are going out of their way to explain this interesting new concept and then people are just ridiculing it without even looking into it.
While I myself have a tendency to find this whole "picking up" think to be somewhat ridiculous itself, I do think that it has some key concepts that are worth considering.
What do you think?
Sorry if my point doesn't seem too clear as I am not in the perfect situation now to organize my ideas into a good format.
EDIT: By the way, is it because of this rant against men who think "conquering women" is somehow a proof of masculinity? Ok, I think I would get pretty turned off at those "wannabe-alpha" people, but I don't think any of the "respectable" PUAs like Mystery or Style have that kind of attitude (or at least, I don't think they do based on the language of the material they sell).
So generally I don't see any note of arrogance or "domineering" philosophy that most master PUAs have, and that's why I don't think they deserve this hateful dissing.
And
here's a Reddit article I found on the same topic.
