If Pete gets dumped by Samantha and Samantha tries to contact him in the upcoming weeks and Pete never responds...Also if Pete completely and respectfully walks away from the situation..is he the one of true value in the girls eyes?
An alpha gets dumped and acts in a manner of "your loss" and never looks back...BUT it is taught by some to LET the woman come back to you and to answer her texts and tentatively let her back in. I just see those texts as ploys to see if she can manipulate you post break up. My thought process therefore is to (figuratively) lock the door thats been closed on you. To really end things but walking away permanently and silently.

Although, I don't think this is something that can be "faked" for long. The guy that walks away must not be walking away so his EX to come back; he must be genuinely walking away because he understands why its important to do so.
Bottom line is, as a man when you make a decision stand by it. You may of made the wrong one at times, but you stand by your error and go down with the ship. You'll live to love another day. A woman isn't going to respect a man who isn't firm in his decision making. When you say its over.. its over. Simple.
As Jsmooth said; never go back. Not because you want to project some "alpha" state or scorn your ex girlfriend, but because you understand that you had full reason for exiting when you did.
