Last night I met this girl at a dance, spent the whole time with her and got her number. However, she said she was recently cheated on, and so she wasn't looking to be with anyone at the moment. I told her I understood, saying it was always tough being cheated on and to take all the time she needed to get over it. As she was leaving, she gave me a hug, and we've been texting since then. So I'm thinking she's at least somewhat interested. My question is, what course of action should I take here? I've never been in this situation before. Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't listen to what she says. Instead you should pay attention to her behaviors. You could have used the fact that she was cheated on as leverage for more investment. Ask her deeper questions on how she felt, etc. Get her emotionally invested and reward that with escalation. You could have tried to kiss her when you saw her. Set up a time to see her again and continue to game her by qualifying her, breaking rapport and escalate to the kiss and pull.
