Ok Gents.
This all occured the other day, see ive started taking dance classes, ie. mambo, salsa, cha cha ect.. figured it would add a little more to what I can already do. So I go in for my first privet lesson and I see this HB7 maybe 7.5 standing there talking to one of the instructors. I gave her a once over as I walked in real casual like. I pull off my coat and put it on the back of my chair then drop my bag and sit down.
At this point the instructor greats me " hello yada yada " I don't say a word to the HB I figure she's in her mid thirties. So I am sitting there in the chair as she walks across my field of vision and sits on a couch infront and to my right. Now I am thinking "Well well who is this" but I don't look at her I open my bag and pull out my appointment card. while I was looking at that she opens me.
HB: Hi
Silk: hi.
HB: so what made you decide to take dance classes.
from here the convo is easy I talk about an experiance in high school as a freshman when this woman (who was an HB herself) came to my school to teach us ballroom dance. I told her about how all the guys backed up and said nah nah not me, but I said " I thought to myself I can do that" with a bit of a sly grin.
HB: giggles.
So I move into how it relates to my life's passion which is my martial arts, I tell her I am an instructor. before I go any more with that thread I stop and look her in the face and flip the script, asking her why she was here.
HB: well I took ballet in school, I studied african dance, ect.. she names a few other dance styles. She also talked about how dance is such a pure form of expressing emotion through movement. I agree with her and tell a short story about how its not a good night in the club unless I can walk out at the end and ruing out my shirt.
HB: giggles
I go a bit more with how dance relates to martial art and how my teachers always told me to study dance.
now this whole time she is looking me in the face and listening to my every word.
I stop again and ask her what was her families history, looking her in the face implying where did they come from.
HB: tells me her mom was chinese and her dad was white and her grandma was native american.
Silk: I can see the native american and chinese background in your face.
HB: goes on about how she has been asked if she was all these diff. nationalities ect ect.
well then my instructor who is chinese greets the HB and she responds with hello in chinese.
I pick out the language and talk about how I learned to recognize languages by there rythmn and cadence of speech, she was interested and said two or three times that she never would have guessed that ( here I assumed I established some kind of social value) well after that string of convo she mentioned how when she started her classes she was there only to learn to dance ( here her face gets sort of serious ) she explains how she was going through some things and she initially wasent there to socialize, I take the oppurtunity to say
Silk: well how can you not socialize its dance?
from here my instructor had me start my lesson.
Now when I left I thought about saying bye to her individually and changed my mind as she had her back to me at the time. I said bye to the room and left.
I am interested in approaching her to get a number or something. How would you all go about this? any help or comments would be welcome
