Does anyone have experience with these types? Like, how to manage them and how to minimize damage if there is a break. I am pretty certain that any subsequent fallout is going to be humongous but I have no idea how to handle it.

I have no experience with HPD but from what I know of it they crave attention and use some pretty outrageous tactics to get it?
I know it's possibly harsh to dismiss her outright for her illness but you have to ask yourself are the risks worth the reward. Unless you see this getting serious, I just don't see it worth the hassle. She'll be clingy, needy, possessive when you talk to other women. Like you say the fallout will be humongous.

I'm in a bit of a spot SPAM (agreed to a relationship before I knew about this) so I can't suddenly back out without triggering a massive backlash.

On the other hand.
This may be very manipulative, borderline wrong, depends on your views but it sounds like she could be an easy lay though. How HB is she? Push the right buttons and she could be a ravenous FWB. But you are setting yourself up for a massive shit storm.

The longer you wait, the worse it'll be - in terms of how she'll react.
You don't have to be a dick, or even point to her as the cause... just tell her you're not really feeling it anymore.
