I dont know what to say after "Hi"
I know this is really basic, but I honestly dont. simple pickup guys usually say "I noticed you are pretty and wanted to meet you" but that has never worked for me. I think it's too strong and direct.

what are some examples of things that I could say after "Hi"? things that work in almost every situation?
one example that I like is to talk about their handshake and go from there. "you have a firm hand shake, do you go to the gym?" I like it because it's universal, after saying "hi" you are almost always going to shake hands so the line is almost always relevant. another reason I like it is because it opens up the possibility of more conversation. "do you go to the gym" leads to more possible topics that you could talk about.

can you give me some other examples of things that I could say after "Hi"?

My guess is that you are saying "hi, you're pretty" then standing there like a dope with nothing to say. It's putting them on the spot. Just keep talking bro, just any shit will do.

A follow up question... LOL then let her encourage her to talk about herself.
Where you from?
Who you here with?
What brings you in here?

Sounds like you need to practice being more social, until you actually become more of a social interesting guy that can jabber on for hours in meaningless conversations that people enjoy talking to.

after you say hi you could trying getting a very shocked look on your face and give them a compliment like " oh hey! nice shoes or I love those earrings." just try complimenting< but don't go over board with it give a compliment then try some negging, also don't forget before you leave a group to ask how they all know each other its another great way to increase the conversation and learn a little back story about them. Good luck!

The gaybestfriend approach is really outside the box. "Cute shoes!" I mean, that's adorable! If you made it all about what she was wearing? Are you kidding me? Great idea. "We should hang out sometime" and exchange numbers. Get coffees at the mall.

Act a little gay, then BAM!

Not that you need to make you voice sound gay or dress like a gay man, but having a sort of question mark hang over you could be hot.

Something observational or situational is usually a good way to open. I like contrasts a lot using deadpan expressions:
(she looks bored) "Hey, don't you look entertained!"

The oblivious goofball:
(she's a barista) "Hey, do you know where I can grab a coffee?"

The smartass:
(in the gym) "Do you compete or are you a sadist like me?"

If you're going to compliment, it's often the little details you compliment a woman on that she'll appreciate the most. Yea you can go with the standard fare (e.g., hair, nails, eyes, something about her attire or a vibe you get from her) In addition, as Robert Green wrote in Art of Seduction get to know your 'victim', find out where their weakness lies, what they're more insecure about and compliment them on that thing. People don't generally take too well when you compliment them on something they already feel good about such as a talent or skill, in fact it can backfire and they find your compliment to be beneath them.

There probably isn't anything to say after "hi", since you really don't have a valid reason to say "hi" in the first place. You just do so because you want to get laid. And that's the wrong frame!

This is what I would do, assuming:

1. There is nothing situational to comment.
2. I don't really have a reason to walk up to the girl, other than my own sexual urges.

I would walk past the girl, or walk up next to her in the bar, look at her and say "hi" with a smile. The very next second I would ignore her and look straight forward again (in a relaxed and confident way), either keep walking or trying to get the bartender's attention. Let there be a pause, some "space". That makes her more comfortable, and you don't give her that vibe that you want something from her. You are just a cool guy.

If standing in the bar, it's now up to her to show you some interest back. If you have ordered your beer and she still haven't said something, you probably have a cold case. That is when you try to comment something situational or tell an interesting story - and this is the only valid excuse to have canned material IMO. If she still doesn't hook, ignore her.

If walking past the girl, I would not bother about her for a while. I've done my part at the moment, acknowledging her and making her aware of my presence. If I run into her again, I would say something like "oh, it's you again", and follow up with a question like "do you want to grab a beer at the bar?" as if you two are already friends, and take it from there.

I'm sorry dude but that's really lame. Why is going out with the frame of meeting girls to have sex with them 'the wrong frame'? Isn't that what's actually happening or would you pretend otherwise? You are trying to make it look like you accidentally started a conversation with them and that's silly

You can go into small talk with her there: ask her where she's from (or guess where she's from), ask her things (ear ring, dress..) about her....

And from there you can dig deeper about her and offer more details about you to go into personal, meaningful conversation and set up date with her.

I learned my conversation skills from a seduction book named - Sex Beast The Awaken by Diophantus Grey.

Since then I never worry about what to talk to girls, not even story or anything, the women will do the talking, I just reply to her occassionaly.

Check that book out if you intend to push your conversation skills to a whole new level.

Hope this help,
Naughty Napoleon
