Just met girl, strange if i ask her to matric dance?

Hows it going guys.
So I met HB8/9 on Saturday night and got number close and have been keeping in contact since, trying to make plans to see each other this coming weekend. She seems interested in me and wants to meet up. Now on the other hand, my matric dance is in about a months time and i havent asked anyone yet. I do have another option, but would really not want to go with her. Do you guys think it would be too weird to ask this girl ive just met to my matric dance(prom)? I would really want a relationship with this girl, so would asking her make things awkward and too fast? Or would it not affect anything and maybe even make our relationship stronger?
