"she is not a bitch to us, she is just a bitch to you"
"she is not a bitch to us, she is just a bitch to people she doesn't care about"
"he is not a jerk to us, he is just a jerk to people he doesn't value"

Are those remarks helpful or insults? I feel worse when I hear them.

It depends on how you look at it my friend. There's a saying: "No one can hurt me without my permission". In other words, if you find those statements insulting it's because you gave yourself permission to be insulted. I refuse to see those statements as insults. To be honest, I'd see them as nothing. Just because one girl is being a b*&^% to you does not mean the world is full of b*&^%es nor should, could, or would the opinion or actions of one b*&^% have any sort of impact on you. There could be a bunch of reasons why a certain girl is a b*&^% to you, but forget her, drop her and replace her. You're better than this and you deserve better.

9 times out of ten if somebody says something insulting to you and you get upset by it more often then not the insult is true.

People only get upset about insults when that insult exposes a character weakness about themselves.

Its why sluts get upset about being called a slut...because its true and effects them emotionally because it's true.

If a girl isn't a slut then she'll just shrug off the insult with a "Im not so whatever" attitude.

That makes no sense. It would only make sense if it was targeted at me. The remarks are "she is not a bitch to us, she is just a bitch to you", "she is not a bitch to us, she is just a bitch to people she doesn't care about" or "he is not a jerk to us, he is just a jerk to people he doesn't value". What you say is referring to you, this is referring to someone else.

I don't understand the allure or the appeal.. If not of these comments were directed you; why is it of any concern what these comments are?

I could call one girl a hoe and she'll hate it - I can call another girl the same thing and she'll love it.

Theres no universal rule for whats an insult and whats not.. It's all dependent on who you are.

So my question to you is.. If none of this comments were directed at you, why do you care?
