I was on a walk/drink coffee first date the other day around 3pm. My date decided she was hungry and then chose an expensive place to eat. The bill was pricey. She offered to pay half but it seemed more of a gesture than she actually wanted to. I jumped on the offer and accepted.

I choose 45 minute dates at non-eating times (breakfast/lunch/dinner) on purpose to avoid being in this exact situation. I try to avoid girls who are just trying to use me for a meal or expensive drink bill that will never hook up with me and I'll never hear from again.

My 2 questions:

1) when a girl on a non-eating date all of a sudden gets hungry and randomly chooses an expensive place to eat --> what can I do/say to get out of it? Or is just saying I'm not interested in eating the best option?

2) how do I get them to pay for half? They always seem to "need the bathroom" or pretend not to notice the bill when it comes. Or should I just tell them what their half is?

I'm great at avoiding these kind of first and second dates (3rd and beyond I don't mind because I've usually hooked up with them by then). But I got "taken" on my last 2 dates (2 different girls), and they are the first 2 girls I haven't hooked up with out of the past 6 dates (all different girls) I've been on.

I'm not cheap -- I just have a full understanding of what will happen after I foot the bill --> they won't hook up with me and I'll never hear from them again. I'm batting about 100% on this.

Just be cheeky straight up...when she suggests a fancy place just say hope your paying then! or something like if i pay you gotta sleep with me!....in a joking fashion, then most times they will offer half. I feel weird taking half though myself dunno why

dont get physical with them after the fact, hand holding but nothing more possibly kiss them on the forehead at the end of the night. if they bring up in any way why ur not making a move. just say you didn't seem comfortable around me so it made me uncomfotable

my advice is only if you dont do anything about it at the time. if this is happening during times when its not dinner or lunch etc. then when she orders something big, or it feels like shes doing it on purpose, say outloud to the waiter. whats the cheapest thing on the menu. or if say conversation really gets stale after this point excuse yourself and leave to the bathroom and dont come back
