I have always known that style is essential in this part of life, however I have never really been the stylish type of person... Never worn branded clothing and basically always flopped when trying to come up with a style... So do any of you know how I could improve and perhaps any advice that may help me in this area?

It's giving the best first impression possible. People make a snap judgment of who you are within a few seconds of who you are. Clothes matter. Style matters.
Try reading magazines like GQ, Men's Health, Esquire, things like that. They usually have a section on fashion and can at least point you in the right direction. Price and brands is not everything. If anything, it's how the clothing fits you and that it's high quality.
I tend to prefer classics, stuff that never goes out of style. Levi's jeans, fitted dress shirts, well made dress shirts. Get your basics down right, you can usually build a solid wardrobe with good basics.
Hope this helps some.
