I'll be walking along and say some random girl 20 feet away passes into my line of vision. She'll look over at me and get a huge wide eyed smile but then the smile quickly falls to a blank look and then she turns her head back in the direction she is walking in. It always catches me off gurard so I'm just trying to figure out if I know her or something. And by the time I get up there to say something to her like "mornin" the girl will look at me only out of the corner of her eye and reply something like "hey" in a quiet flat voice which in that tone sounds like 'Don't talk to me'.

I used to think they just thought I was someone else for a moment and then realized they had the wrong person and got embarased. Now I'm wondering if they are attracted and think I'm looking at them but when they get nothing from me they quickly turn away? And how do you respond from 20 feet away?
