I've been messing around online and I stumbled over the Book of Pook.

I've been reading some of the stuff, haven't gone through it all, it's after all around 270 pages. My impression of Pook and his book is ambivalent. Some of the stuff he writes is just plain poetry. It reminds me of the classics (the real classics, like Livy). And most of it rings true.

I am however a bit alarmed by some of the conclusions he draw. He is for example very clear on the fact that it's all the inner game and the mind-set, techniques are only crutches etc. To some extent I agree with this, but don't we all need some techniques to some degree?

What view do the PUA community have on his writings? Is it something they view as valuable or is it too philosophical to have any practical value for someone not far travelled in this world?

What other books do you recommend for I guy determined to get into this mind-set after some recent failures? I've read The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene by the way, an excellent book, but not very practical to put in use.

To sum it up. What books and whose theories should I use as crutches until the attitude gets more engraved in my personality? Who should I let myself be inspired by???

You seem like the metaphysical spiritual type but I'm not a fan of these Robert Greene David Deida type of "mens empowerment" books. Too much ambiguous pussy footing about the truth, and as you said, impractical application.

Get hold of some straight PUA Material, David DeAngelo, Swinggcat, Gunwitch, Gambler, John Alexander, etc.

Well, I'm pretty sure you just insulted me  Hardly spiritual and I don't know what metaphysical even means  Not a native speaker and learnt English mostly through unorthodox channels, hence my formal wording.

Anyway. I've seen some of David D's material. My problem with him is that he cast the net too wide. Some of what he says is brilliant, but I especially have a problem with his choice of guests. Some of them are full of rubbish. But thank you for the advice, I'll check it out.

I agree his later programs aren't that great and his guests can suck. But his early stuff is classic, spot-on PUA gold.

The only part of his book that I recall, is the part about weight and attraction "What every skinny guy should know". That was certainly my experience, and I agree with him.
