From the looks of this, you are taking the whole cocky funny thing a bit too far, it coming across as unattractive and ugly. What you want to do is provide the girl with fun and flirty conversation. You mannerism says " You have to chase me" however you do not say these things verbally. She really put herself out their by paying you a compliment and coming after you first. She was already chasing you, to push it further creates the opposite effect. You were beating a dead horse on that one buddy.
Now lets say a girl wrote to me "Hi you're handsome, i would like to know more about you."
I would project to her that she has to try a bit harder and chase me more by simplifying replying with " Awesome!

Now she has to provide me with more conversation to hold my interest, I'm subtly saying " Try harder".. Girls do it to us all the time. She will then begin asking questions about you because she has already put herself out there and too give up now would make her look like an idiot. Instead you annoyed her and bored her...
Too many guys misinterpret the cocky funny... Keep it, "Fun and Flirty" and when a girl is chasing you, encourgae her to continue to do some, subtly and playfully, not directly.
