| My friend says he has tried this and it worked, once. I'm sceptical. From a psychological perspective, is this a good idea or just dumb as a general but risky strategy to get out of the friendzone?
Say you have been friendzoned. At an appropriate moment, you "confess" that the girl reminds you of your ex girlfriend and that is why you had feelings for her that were not mutual. You apologise etc, say you're over your ex, give it some time, stop seeing her for a while, no communication.
This immediately acts as a neg, seriously deflates her ego which was inflated by having another guy sucking up to her and "explains" your feelings for her all at the same time.
And after giving it some time, he is out of the friend zone, he can escalate etc...
Now my friend said he did this because he was not interested in the girl as a friend AT ALL, only as a sexual partner, so he said he had nothing to lose, so he went all out.
Does anyone have any opinions? Now I'm not sure whether what he said was a total lie or was true, he just said it worked and thats all that mattered to him (ends justify the means sort of thing). I'm asking for opinions about what he said and whether it would seem to work more generally or he was just lucky, not about the ethics of lying to girls. Thanks.
