So I've been having a bit of an argument/talk with my buddy about this.

He argues that you should text a girl IMMEDIATELY after a number close (like either right there with the girl or shortly after) with a "save my number" text - only conveying the information of who you are, so the girl knows for future reference.

To me, this seems like a bad idea. There's no emotional spike to it, and I suppose you can do an emotional spike later on from that and she'll know who it is, but it just seems like you're introducing a lagging element to the interaction.

I'd either prefer to call the girl the next day after receiving the number, or text her something funny that night, not even necessarily revealing my name - if she can't figure it out, she can ask.

What are your thoughts on this? The scenario that brought this up (if you guys want to comment on the exact scenario), was that my buddy, his harem girl/fuck buddy, and me went to meet up with a former roommate of harem girl (male, older, think they wanted to buy pot) at some old Armed Forces bar.

Everyone in the bar was 40s-60s except for us really, and they had hired a super cute 21 yo bartender.

Me and my buddy gamed her a bit, we got some beers and I ordered a pizza. She was a bit sassy, and after showing some leadership (befriending other bar patrons, shitting on her in a funny way), I number closed her.

My buddy pushed me to text her IMMEDIATELY with a "save my number" text.

I eventually did so.

Personally, I think a sassy/funny message, or calling her the next day would have been better.

Doesn't really matter. You're just over-analyzing stuff.

If she liked you, she'll give you a friendly reply.
However, if she doesn't reply/flakes, don't think the opposite, she might be trying to challenge you since many guys have done the same thing you did before. Show her you're different.

Doesn't matter that much but for a number close at a bar etc. I ALWAYS text my name or a description of who i was. ALWAYS. I like to text an hour or so later or right then and there. But, it doesn't matter that much.

I usually text a girl right there because she wants me to actually talk to her. I get the "YOU BETTER CALL ME!" alot so I just say "Here, I'll text you my name right now so you have my number. Now shut up."

It really depends on the situation though. If its a shitty lead, I usually don't even bother. But I don't go for numbers... I go for the close. A number is a way to just make that happen at a different time in a different place. Obviously, you can't fuck the girl while she's at work...
