You made a mistake right from the start:
She was obviously fishing for some confirmation/compliments. She wanted you to tell her that she looks just as "perfect". But doing so is trying to buy her - a way to spoil the game too. What you did was the opposite, negging her too much. The underlying tone of what you wrote was "you don't look good", which is not very nice.

Here is what I would suggest... When she said "No way, she's perfect", you should have said something like "you think so? maybe you are right, I didn't think about it that way".

Precisely what I was going to say. Also, two more things:

1) When you mentioned you were going for a smoke and how un-healthy you are. That is a big turnoff, especially the "ran out of breath returning to bed". You were obviously joking (at least I hope you were...) but think about the image you projected on her mind.

2) If I was in your place, I would have ended the conversation sooner. When texting (of fb chatting) a girl you want to leave on a high note, not drag along a stale conversation.
