I was standing outside the shop when two girls came towards the shop, one of them said 'hi (insert name)' i said hi back but she and her mate laughed...it made me paranoid that they were taking the piss out of me, stuff like that make me feel ugly.

am i just being paranoid?

No, any sane person would wonder if they are laughing about him.

All you can do is shrug it off really because you can't be sure.

If they are mean spirited (but you'll never know for sure), you're better off without them.
If they are nice but are making a bad joke, laughing about you, you're better off without them.
If they are nice and are laughing about something else, you'd just make a mistake confronting them.

In all 3 cases you could try your best to appear unfazed, in case of scenario 1 and 2, so you show at least it didn't get to you. Or, even better, you could engage them with something that shows you're completely unaffected, confident, and try to lightly neg them in the process. That should work for all 3 scenarios above. What to say? I can't come up with anything witty right now, but maybe if you think about it long enough, you can.

I've had scenario 1 happen with a group of girls laughing at you out of the blue, for no reason, and can tell you it really sucks. I take comfort in the fact that they're probably fat and ugly with 2 kids by now, while I'm well off and am dating with pretty, sweet girls.

it gets me paranoid thro and all i did was say hello back and then she laughed with her mate...the way she said yes sounded patronizing

I feel like when groups of girls do that to me for the most part that it is their insecure reaction. They are giggling about how cute I am and tha they are going to talk to me and don't know anything but to laugh as I say hi, after they say hi and run along.

i had some guy on the internet say to me 'its because your 5'8 or 9. your too short' that made me more paranoid lol, i don't why that made more paranoid because the girl who said hi was 4 foot 11

huh? I am 5'8" and do well with woman. Granted it is 99% of the time with women my height or shorter but uhm...hello....that is a big ass sea of sexy, fine ass women. They were not laughing at your height. Man up.
