However he wants
I've came across many types of leaders in my day and they all sit differently. Some legs crossed, some open etc.
To be a leader you have to find "You" and not try an copy some top dog before you. If you're consciously copying, you're technically have no identity. And I have never met an "alpha" anything without his own identity.
That being said, here are some tips:
Take your space. Don't cross your arms, keep your legs closely tight, etc. This are submissive positions. And if you want to cross your legs or cross your arms behind your neck do it, even if people have to take a side step when they walk by you.
If at a table, move the chair a bit away from the table and to the side, so you can rest your elbow on the table and cross your legs. Also a good way to keed your drink close at hand.
But above all, do what Joey said, find something that works for you. For exemple, I was never a jock, I've always been more of an intelectual kind of guy and, as a PUA, this reflects as a cool posture, careful tone and big words coupled with a suit and shirt, often with a tie and a licked back hairstyle. So, the posture I usually adopt when I am not actively involved in the conversation involves resting my elbows on the chair, resting back with hands joined with fingers straight at about chin level (this is the typical lecturer posture). Or, if using the posture at the table I mentioned earlier, I rest my elbow on the table with my arm up and touch my left cheek with two fingers. Besides having the same relaxed look this ensures people see my college class ring and gold watch. When I do take the lead on the conversation I tend to lean closer to the people I'm with keeping one hand on the chair's arm (and, consequently, that shoulder slightly raised) and the other at the table near the person I'm with, with that soulder slightly lower. Besides being a good position to hold a girl's hand or wrist if she has her hands on the table (NLP anchoring) It gives me a kind of conspirator look, like I'm about to reveal something important I don't mean other people to hear, wich goes well with the rest of the act.
I'm not saying you should do like I do, I'm saying this is what works for me and complements my attitude, personality and apearence. As a PUA I chose the persona of a banker or CEO. I already had the personality for it, I'm closer to 30 than 20, so it goes well with my apearence and age and it is a role I'm good at. If your alpha male persona is an athlete or a blingged out rapper, acting like me would be ridicolous. Try out for a bit, see what works for you and perfect that.
