I am currently in not a very serious relationship right now, the girl is pretty and fun but that's about it, she drinks way too much and I don't really trust her.

The thing is that I met a great girl recently and we are going on a date and if it works out I would like to make a switch to this new one. My central question here is: What should I say to her about my current "status"?

Some friends tell me to lie and say I got no girl. But I think the better would be to say something like "i am not in a serious relationship" and then when she asks for details I will say that I am finishing that relationship and that we are not close together as we used to be.

If your not married or in a committed relationship, then your single. It's that simple. Why over complicate shit?
