I've heard that movies aren't the best place to go on a first date, but I was thinking about taking a girl to a scary movie for our first time out. What do you guys think about this?

Why?

Aren't you supposed to get to know each other? Build some rapport? A level of comfort with each other?

You're going to be stuck sitting quietly in a theater watching a movie. You might be hoping she will jump into your arms while the Boogeyman pops up on the screen, but it doesn't usually work like that unless you know her. I can take a girl to the movies only if I want to see that movie, and would never take anyone on a first date there. Inviting her to your house for dinner, wine, and perhaps a movie is a better idea.

If it's a first date type of thing, keep it simple. Here are some alternatives:

If you both can drink, take her out for some drinks.
Go to an art gallery or a museum.
Go to a café type place, something little more than coffee but little less than a restaurant.
Cook dinner at your place.
Go to a park/a waterfront if there is one where you live.

Movie theaters CAN be a good date spot, you just have to have the confidence to ruin the movie for everyone else.

That can of course work to your advantage. The best part is you'll always have something to talk about (the movie)

Here is a post detailing 'the movie date': the-movie-date-repost-vt58940.html

Also, here Kezia Noble talks about the classic Movie date as well, among other ideas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71c1TmiOo54

(For the movie date, skip to 7:06)

Good luck mate.

Well she isn't a complete stranger I do know her a little bit. She is friends with my buddy and I've met her a couple of times out with him but never done anything alone. She's the type of girl that pretty crazy and I don't really see anything deep coming out of it, but we would probably have a blast going out together.

And yes I do have the confidence to ruin the movie I really enjoy being loud or saying anything I feel needs to be said at any given point, regardless of who is there.
